Received a suspicious message from "Fair Collection"?
Scammers pose as debt collection companies to make people pay fake claims or hand over bank and card details. Here is how to check whether a message is genuine – and how to report it to us.
Three things to do.
01
Do not pay, do not reply and do not click any links until you have checked the claim.
02
Check whether the claim exists in the Customer Portal (log in via fair.no) or call customer service.
03
Send the email to abuse@fair.no – forwarded as an attachment (see the guide below)
How to recognize a genuine message from Fair Collection.
-
Email from Fair Collection is always sent from an address ending in @fair.no. If an email looks like it is from us but comes from another address, it is not from us.
-
Use the table below when checking links and websites that claim to be from Fair:
Type | May be legitimate | How to check |
SMS sender names | Fair, Fair Collection, Fair Norge, Fair Group, Fair Solution | Sender names can be faked. All cases handled by Fair can be viewed in the Customer portal at fairgroup.com, so the recommendation is always to go there to check the case. The exception is Maik, which is available at minside.maikinkasso.no. |
Fair domains | fairgroup.com, fair.no, fairdc.no, fair24.no, customer.portal.fairgroup.com | Type fairgroup.com yourself and continue to the Customer Portal. Do not use links in the message if you are unsure. Be especially alert to small spelling changes, extra characters og different endings. |
Other legitimate sites | fairdc.atlassian.net, maikinkasso.no | Maik is the exception to the Fair Customer Portal: use minside.maikinkasso.no for Maik cases. Other sites should only be used if you reached them from a known Fair page or through an expected internal/agreed process. |
-
We never ask you to reply by email with card numbers, BankID codes, passwords or account details.
-
We never ask for payment to foreign accounts, by gift card or in cryptocurrency.
Unsure? Call customer service on (+47) 9551 2000. Use the number you find here on fair.no – not a number from the email or text message. Scammers can also make a call appear to come from a Norwegian number (spoofing) – hang up and call us yourself.
How to report to us
About email inquiries
Send the email to abuse@fair.no as an attachment – not as a normal forward. When you forward as an attachment, the technical details that show where the message really came from are included. This helps us in our work with the authorities and speeds up handling.
About SMS inquiries
Take a screenshot showing the sender number, the date and the full text, and send it to abuse@fair.no.
About phone calls
Note the number the call came from, the time and what was said, and send it to abuse@fair.no.
About fake websites
Send us the web address (URL). Do not log in or enter any details on the site.
A short explanation is enough. Please do not send us more personal information than necessary.
How to forward an email as an attachment.
Outlook (new version – Windows and web)
-
Open the email.
-
Click the arrow under "Forward" in the toolbar.
-
Select "Forward as attachment".
-
Enter abuse@fair.no as the recipient and send.

What happens after you report?
We review every report. Confirmed scams are used to get fake domains and sender accounts shut down and to notify the police. Unfortunately we cannot reply to everyone who reports, but everything we receive is assessed. Not hearing back does not mean the case has not been followed up.
Already paid or shared your details?
-
Contact your bank immediately. In some cases the bank can stop or reverse the payment, and block cards that have been misused.
-
Report it to your local police.
-
Notify us at abuse@fair.no. If you can, tell us which account number you paid to – it helps both us and the police.
Is this about a genuine case with Fair?
This page is only for scams and misuse of Fair Collection's name. If you have questions about a case, want to make a complaint or set up a payment plan, contact customer service at fair.no/en/contact or log in to the Customer Portal.
Privacy
When you send us a report, we process the information in it to prevent and handle fraud and to protect you, other recipients and Fair Collection. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in countering fraud, where we have assessed that this interest outweighs the privacy impact on you.
The scam email you report may be forwarded in full – including its content and technical details – to the police, to others we work with to counter fraud, and to the sender's domain or email service provider. Your own message to us is not forwarded. We never use sensitive personal data. If any is present in what we receive, we remove it. Reports are deleted no later than 6 months after we receive them.
Read more about how we process personal data in general in our privacy notice (fair.no/en/privacy).
